Susan Whitley is a seasoned medical professional with an extensive background in family medicine and healthcare services. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa since January 2011 and as a Family Physician at Carlington Community Health Centre until January 2025, Susan has previously been a Health Services Officer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from August 2016 to December 2023. Additional experience includes working as a Family Physician in Group Practice in Ottawa from 1999 to 2023 and as a Medical Officer with Health Canada from January 2013 to May 2018. Earlier roles include serving as a Medical Officer (Captain) for the Department of National Defence from 1995 to 1999 and as an Engineer focused on Ship Structural Engineering for the Canadian Frigate Program from September 1988 to August 1990. Academically, Susan holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Queen's University, completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa, and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Engineering Physics from the Royal Military College of Canada.
