Esther van Kleef, PhD, is a seasoned epidemiologist with extensive experience in statistical epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Current roles include Visiting Scientist at the University of Oxford and Consultant at the World Health Organization, both starting in July 2024, as well as Assistant Professor at UMC Utrecht since February 2023. Esther van Kleef previously served as a Senior Epidemiologist at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp until July 2024 and held positions at the World Health Organization and RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, focusing on data-driven outbreak decision support and AMR surveillance. A PhD graduate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Esther van Kleef has contributed to significant research in healthcare-associated infections and AMR through various academic and consultancy roles since 2011.
