Osman Balkan

Osman Balkan currently serves as the Associate Director and Program Director of Curriculum, Experiential Learning, and Innovation for the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business at the University of Pennsylvania since August 2022. In addition, Osman has held multiple roles at The Lauder Institute, including Senior Fellow, Faculty Coordinator for the Lauder Global Program Summer Immersion, and Director of the Lauder Europe Regional Program since January 2018. From July 2016 to June 2023, Osman was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Swarthmore College. Previous experience includes serving as Resident Director for the Critical Languages Scholarship Turkish Program with the U.S. Department of State in 2010 and 2011, and as a Lecturer of Turkish at Cornell University from July 2008 to June 2009. Osman earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Reed College in 2005, where Osman graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
