Piyumani Ranasinghe

Piyumani Ranasinghe is a legal researcher at the Centre for Policy Alternatives since July 2023 and currently serves as a guest lecturer at Universidade Católica de Santos, focusing on Pluriversal approaches to Human Rights, Environmental Justice, and Sustainable Development. Additionally, Piyumani supervises undergraduate dissertations at the University of Peradeniya while also holding a visiting lecturer position in Environmental Law there. As an attorney at the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka since April 2021, Piyumani is also the founder and chief editor of Just My Nature, a platform promoting environmental conservation through storytelling. With past roles including learning facilitator at the University of South-Eastern Norway and a member of the Secretariat for the Model Universal Periodic Review at the Human Rights Centre - University of Padova, Piyumani has a notable background in academia and human rights advocacy. Piyumani holds an MSc in Human Rights and Multiculturalism from the University of South-Eastern Norway and an LL.B. from the University of Peradeniya.
