Don Hopey is an experienced educator and journalist with a diverse background in environmental issues. Since September 2000, Don has served as an instructor at the University of Pittsburgh, teaching undergraduate courses on critical environmental topics such as water, air, and extractive industries, while also leading a summer field course focused on public lands and fly fishing. Additionally, Don has been an environment reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since January 1993, specializing in breaking news and investigations related to environmental concerns. Prior to this role, Don worked as a reporter for The Pittsburgh Press from 1983 to 1993, covering local government, labor, and business matters. Don holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with further studies at Penn State University.
