Prema Iyer is an accomplished Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh since August 2006, specializing in synthetic chemistry for drug discovery, DMPK property optimization, and analytical instrument maintenance. Prema leads research projects, mentors students and researchers, and actively contributes to educational grant projects and university committees. Previous roles include Visiting Research Assistant Professor, where Prema designed and synthesized small molecule inhibitors targeting cancer and HIV, resulting in two publications, and as a Research Associate, where improvements in peptide yields and purity led to four publications and an award for best poster presentation. Prema also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, focusing on the synthesis of a significant N2-deoxyguanosine adduct. Prema holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Mumbai.
