Thomas Tiahrt

Thomas Tiahrt, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Decision Sciences at The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business since April 2014, serving as the POET Professor of Business Analytics and coordinator for the MSBA and Operational Analytics programs. Tiahrt teaches various analytics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and previously held roles as an Assistant Professor of Decision Science at the same institution and as the Analytics Program Director and Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Northwestern College. With a strong background in computer science, Tiahrt has also worked in software engineering and research positions at notable companies including BrightPlanet Corp. and VisualMetrics, developing innovative information retrieval and text processing systems. Tiahrt holds a Ph.D. in Computational Science and Statistics and a Master of Arts in Computer Science, both from the University of South Dakota.
