Peter Schubel is a seasoned professional in advanced engineering and space sciences, currently serving as the Founding Executive Director of the Institute of Advanced Engineering & Space Sciences at the University of Southern Queensland since October 2016. In this role, Peter oversees cutting-edge research in advanced materials, astrophysics, hypersonic propulsion systems, and autonomous agricultural engineering, including management of world-class facilities like the Mt Kent Observatory. Additionally, Peter has held the position of Founding Director of iLAuNCH and has contributed significantly as Director and Professor of Composites Manufacturing at the Centre for Future Materials. Before joining the University of Southern Queensland, Peter advanced his expertise through roles such as Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, and National Centre Manager at CIMComp. Peter's educational background includes a PhD in Polymer Composites Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland.
