Colin Burns

Colin Burns is an experienced professional with a background in engineering and management, currently serving as an Academic Mentor and Work Based Learning Adviser at the University of Strathclyde since November 2017, focusing on Graduate Apprenticeships. From May 2013 to September 2022, Colin managed Taste Ayrshire, facilitating events and promotions for local businesses in the food, drink, and hospitality sectors. Prior experience includes roles as a Scout Leader and Kitchen Designer, and significant time at BAE Systems as a Project and Business Manager overseeing various projects. Colin also held essential roles at the UK Ministry of Defence, where responsibilities included aircraft performance data and representing the UK on international projects, and British Aerospace as a Senior Aircraft Performance Engineer. Colin earned a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Glasgow between 1983 and 1987.
