Stefan Kuhr is a Professor of Physics and Head of the Department at the University of Strathclyde, where Stefan has been since February 2011, overseeing the Optics Division and holding a chair in Quantum Information and Quantum Simulation. Prior to this role, Stefan Kuhr served as a Senior Scientist and Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics from August 2009 to February 2011, and held a similar position at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from July 2006 to July 2009, collaborating with Immanuel Bloch. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral researcher role at Ecole normale supérieure in Paris, focusing on Cavity-QED experiments from July 2003 to June 2006. Stefan Kuhr earned a PhD in Physics from the University of Bonn, where studies took place from September 1999 to June 2003, after completing a Master's degree in Physics at the same institution from September 1993 to October 1999, and a High School Diploma from Gymnasium der Stadt Lennestadt in May 1992.
