Ruchira Talukdar

Ruchira Talukdar is a prominent environmental advocate and academic, currently serving as Co-Founder and Director of Sapna South Asian Climate Solidarity and a Mentor for Friends of the Earth Australia. As a researcher at the Climate Justice Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, Ruchira focuses on the intersections of land, Indigenous peoples, and climate change across India, Australia, and the United States. Ruchira holds a PhD from the University of Technology Sydney, which explored climate justice activism in Northern and Southern contexts, with a specific emphasis on coal conflicts. Previous roles include researcher for the Just Energy Transition Project at The Australian National University and Healthy Rivers Campaigner at the Australian Conservation Foundation. Ruchira has extensive experience in communications, having held significant positions at Greenpeace and Weber Shandwick India. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Environment from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor's in English from Delhi University.
