Vicki Chen

Provost & SVP at University of Technology Sydney

Prior to joining UTS in 2022, Professor Chen was Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and IT at the University of Queensland (UQ) and served as Head of School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney. During her time at UQ Professor Chen led an impressive array of initiatives to uplift UQ's standing via high profile partnerships, curriculum innovations and cross-disciplinary research relationships.

Professor Chen is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, holds Chartered Status in Leadership and Management with Engineers Australia, and is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Professor Chen was previously the Director of UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology and a board member of Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy.

Professor Chen has over twenty-five years of academic expertise in membrane separation, biocatalytic systems, nanomaterials and water treatment. She has over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and two patents.

Professor Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
