Sheryl Lyn Monterola has extensive experience in the field of education, serving as a Professor in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of the Philippines since June 1999. In addition to academic roles, Monterola holds leadership positions as the Director of the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED) and Chair of the Research and Development Committee at the College of Education. Responsibilities include mentoring research fellows, managing programs related to data science in public education, and contributing as an Associate Editor for Education Quarterly. Monterola's consultancy work includes roles with the ILO and the Department of Education in the Philippines, focusing on STEM education and skills development. Additionally, Monterola has a PhD in Education specializing in Physics Education from the University of the Philippines and has served as a Visiting Scholar at the National Institute of Education in Singapore.
