Hoy graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (now University of the Sciences in Philadelphia) with a degree in Pharmacy and also earned a Business Certificate from the Wharton School. She maintains her pharmacy license in Pennsylvania, and has practiced in hospital and community pharmacy. Shortly after graduating, Hoy joined Merck & Co., Inc. where she enjoyed a successful 35 year career. Her career spanned four divisions: Operations, Marketing, Merck Medco/Managed Care, Sales/Account Management. Major accomplishments include: Charter member of Merck Vaccine Division, cementing the company’s strategic focus on public health; led the division’s response to measles epidemic, successfully implementing new CDC guidelines with launch of Merck’s first-ever DTC campaign; established and led innovative sales team dedicated to retail pharmacy customer base. Advanced Merck’s legacy in public health by supporting activities to train and advocate for pharmacist administered vaccinations, advancing the role of pharmacists in delivery of healthcare services; directed and implemented modified supply chain strategies, resulting in significant efficiency enhancements for Merck and for customers, and changing the industry business model; and sponsored cross divisional initiative to re-design labels for Merck products, enhancing patient safety by reducing potential for dispensing errors. Published project design and results, with recognition received from FDA and external patient advocacy groups. Hoy is married to Michael R. Hoy, PhD and they have two children, Jennifer and Daniel. In her retirement, Hoy focuses her energies in the following areas: healthcare advocacy, church ministry, reading, home decorating, world travel and serving on the Board of Trustees for the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
