Michael Wilmore currently serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of the Sunshine Coast since June 2023. Previously, Michael held several senior academic positions at the University of New England (AU) from July 2018 to June 2023, including Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Development. Michael also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education and was seconded to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor role in 2021. Additionally, Michael was the Board Chair at UNE Partnerships from December 2020 to June 2023 and held the position of Executive Dean at Bournemouth University from February 2016 to June 2018. Earlier roles include Associate Dean (Learning Innovation) at Swinburne University of Technology and Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide. Michael's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology from the University of London and a Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology from UCL, along with a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology from the University of Exeter.
