Hurum Maksora Tohfa

Hurum Maksora Tohfa is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington, collaborating with Professor Matt McQuinn on the impact of baryon streaming velocity on structure formation. Prior experience includes a Research Assistant role at the University of California, Riverside, where work with Professor Simeon Bird involved employing wavelet scatter transform for summary statistics in comparison to powerspectrum. Previous internships at Microsoft and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology involved analyzing mosquito wingbeat data for species classification and studying X-ray cavity properties, respectively. Tohfa has also contributed as a Research Associate at Haverford College, focusing on the time variation of the fine structure constant, and has held various teaching and consulting positions aimed at enhancing educational equity and pedagogical methods in STEM. Tohfa holds a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Bryn Mawr College.
