John Schmidt III

John Schmidt III is a seasoned volleyball coach with extensive experience at various educational institutions. Currently serving as the Head Volleyball Coach at The University of West Alabama since May 2022, Schmidt transformed a struggling program into one focused on mentorship and student-athlete development. Prior to this role, Schmidt was the Interim Assistant Volleyball Coach at Seward County Community College, contributing to the program's success, including a KJCAA Championship and national ranking. As Head Volleyball Coach at Brescia University, Schmidt led the team to its first conference championship and received accolades such as River States Conference Coach of the Year. Schmidt's coaching journey includes roles at Belmont University, Willowbrook Sports Complex, and other institutions, demonstrating a commitment to developing players both on and off the court. Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Texas State University.
