Daisy Pua

Dr. Daisy Pua, an Assistant Professor in the School of Education, holds a Ph.D. in Special Education with a minor in Research and Evaluation Methodology.

Before joining UWF, Pua was an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) postdoctoral research fellow at Arizona State University. She also supported an IES grant to examine the validity of the Danielson Framework for Teaching as an observation system for special education teachers. During her five years as a special education teacher, she provided academic instruction and behavioral support to K-5 students with various exceptionalities in Gainesville, Florida. She has also served as a mentor to teacher candidates.

She currently teaches undergraduate courses on strategies for creating effective learning environments and best practices of inclusion and collaboration for instructing students with disabilities. Her research interests include evidence-based teaching practices for supporting students with disabilities, Autism, and teacher preparation and training. She is most interested in aligning classroom observations with professional development to help improve teachers' instructional quality. She has presented on these research areas at state, national, and international conferences and co-authored articles with colleagues in special education.
