Peter Moreno

Peter Moreno is an accomplished legal educator and reform advocate with extensive experience in prison education and wrongful conviction initiatives. Currently serving as the Director of the Prison Education Initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since October 2018, Peter founded a statewide program providing degree and microcredential education to incarcerated individuals and co-founded the UW Coalition for Higher Education in Prison. Additionally, Peter established the Odyssey Beyond Bars program, which reintroduced in-person credit-bearing courses at Wisconsin state prisons. Previously, at the University of Washington School of Law, Peter co-directed the Innocence Project Northwest Legal Clinic, supervising law students and litigating post-conviction cases while teaching criminal law. Peter holds a JD with honors from the University of Washington School of Law and advanced degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northwestern University.
