Associate Vice President Human Resources CHRO at University of Wisconsin System

Daniel Chanen has had a diverse work experience throughout their career. Daniel started as a Latin Teacher at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School before becoming a Theology Teacher at Messmer High School. Daniel then transitioned to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School as a Teacher. In 2002, they joined Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. as an Attorney, specializing in labor and employment matters. After leaving the law firm in 2009, they became the Director of Human Resources at Wauwatosa School District. In 2011, they briefly served as an Adjunct Instructor at George Williams College of Aurora University. From 2014 to 2017, they held leadership roles in Milwaukee Public Schools, first as Director of Benefits and Compensation Services and then as Chief Human Capital Officer. In 2019, they became the Director of Benefits and Compensation at the University of Wisconsin System. Daniel later served as the Interim Associate Vice President/CHRO before being promoted to Associate Vice President Human Resources/CHRO in 2021.

Daniel Chanen began their education at St. Joseph Central High School from 1985 to 1989. Daniel then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Humanities at The George Washington University from 1989 to 1993. Following this, they obtained a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education from The George Washington University from 1993 to 1995. Finally, they attended the University of Wisconsin Law School from 1999 to 2002, where they achieved a Juris Doctor degree with cum laude honors.
