MICHAEL GATELA

Michael Gatela has a strong background in credit operations and collections, with over 24 years of experience in the banking and financial industry. MICHAEL is currently serving as the Credit Operations Head at UNO Digital Bank since May 2023, responsible for managing and overseeing the credit operations department. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Collections at UNO Digital Bank from June 2022 to May 2023.

Before joining UNO Digital Bank, Michael worked as the Country Manager at McGrath & Arthur® group (MCGA® group) from July 2021 to June 2022, where they were responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the country branch.

MICHAEL also has extensive experience in sales portfolio management, serving as the Senior Sales Portfolio Manager & MDRT Premier Advisor at AIA Philam Life from June 2019 to July 2021.

Michael has held various leadership positions in collections, including Collections Head - Vice President at Security Bank Corporation from March 2013 to May 2019, Collections Unit Head - Assistant Vice President at BDO Unibank from January 2010 to February 2013, and Collections Head - Assistant Vice President at GE Money Bank from June 2009 to December 2009.

MICHAEL started their career at Citi, where they worked as the Collections Unit Head - Assistant Vice President from September 1998 to June 2009. MICHAEL began their professional journey as a Collections Officer at RCBC Bankard Services Corporation from May 1997 to September 1998. Overall, Michael Gatela possesses a wealth of experience in credit operations, collections, sales portfolio management, and leadership roles within the banking and financial industry.

Michael Gatela earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of the East in 1995-1996, with a focus on Law. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government from the Philippine Christian University from 1990-1994. Additionally, Michael has obtained several certifications, including being a Million Dollar Round Table Member in 2021, a Certified LUAP Member from the Life Underwriters Association of the Philippines in 2020, and passing the Civil Service Exam in 1997 under the institution of the Civil Service Commission.
