Gurel Gurkan

Gurel Gurkan is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in coordination and operations within international organizations, notably serving at the United Nations from June 2012 to November 2014, where strategic coordination and operational reform were implemented across the UN Country Team in Ethiopia. Gurel's expertise includes aligning procurement, logistics, HR, finance, and ICT services with program delivery goals and enhancing performance tracking across multiple UN entities. As Co-Director for THIMUN Youth Network, Gurel promoted youth engagement in sustainability and equity, and in subsequent roles at UNOPS, oversaw a substantial portfolio focused on healthcare, governance, and digital transformation. Gurel holds an MPhil from Cambridge University in Development Studies, a degree in Management and Economics from Tilburg University, and a BSc in Management from Bilkent University.
