Mark Tjernagel has had a diverse work experience spanning several organizations throughout their career. Mark began working with Crusade (now known as Cru) in 1991, starting as a Staff Accountant/Accounting Team Leader and eventually moving up to become Director of Accounting and then Controller. In these roles, they gained experience in various areas such as financial reporting, audit oversight, and IT system upgrades.
In 2003, Tjernagel took on the role of Treasurer/CFO for Unto™ (formerly GAiN in the U.S.), a subsidiary of Cru that focuses on humanitarian aid and relief efforts. Mark also became involved with the New Life Insurance Company, serving as a founding member and President of the Board of Directors. This role involved overseeing insurance-related matters for Cru, including reinsurance and state regulations.
Throughout their career, Tjernagel has held multiple positions within the Christian Leadership Alliance, serving as a Member of the Board of Directors and later as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mark'sresponsibilities included providing leadership and oversight for the organization, which aims to equip and unite leaders of Christian organizations.
Tjernagel also served as Treasurer/CFO for The Cru Foundation, a subsidiary used for special fundraising efforts involving donor-advised funds, annuities, and non-cash gifts. In addition, they held the role of Treasurer at The Kings College for approximately seven years, working closely with the onsite team on budgeting, cash flow, real estate leases, and debt structures.
Currently, Tjernagel is a Board Member of the Foundation for Foster Children, a position they took on in 2022.
Mark Tjernagel pursued their education from 1986 to 1990 at Texas A&M University, where they completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus on Accounting.
