Ross Burgess

Animation Supervisor / Animation Director at Untold Studios

Ross Burgess has a diverse and extensive work experience in the animation industry. Ross has held various roles in different companies throughout their career.

Starting in 2002, Ross worked as an Animator at Framestore CFC, where they contributed to projects such as "Where The Wild Things Are," "The Tale of Despereaux," and "The Dark Knight."

In 2009, they joined Industrial Light & Magic as an Animator for a short period before moving to ImageMovers Digital as a Senior Animator / Technical Animator. Here, they worked on films like "A Christmas Carol" and "Mars Needs Moms," specializing in motion capture cleanup and animation finalization.

Ross then joined PDI/Dreamworks in 2010 as a Character Animator. Ross had credits in films like "B.O.O," "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," "Rocky and Bullwinkle" (short), "Madagascar 3," and "Shrek" franchise shorts. Ross also received leadership and management training during their time at Dreamworks.

In 2014, Ross became an Animation Lead at MPC, where they led teams and provided creative feedback for projects like Disney's "Jungle Book" and "Terminator Genisys." Ross continued their journey at MPC as Head of Animation and Animation Supervisor / Animation Director until 2023.

From 2017 to 2021, Ross served as the Head of Animation, Television / Immersive / Advertising at Framestore, where they supervised animation in projects like "Jingle Jangle" (Netflix Film) and "The Crown" (Netflix TV). Ross also worked as Animation Lead on Disney's "Beauty & the Beast."

In 2021, Ross joined Moving Picture Company as the Head of Animation and Animation Supervisor. During their time there, they built a vibrant and enthusiastic animation department and collaborated with top universities and MPC Academy to mentor the next generation of talent. Notable projects include "Prehistoric Park" (Apple TV), "House of the Dragon" (HBO), and "Wheel of Time" (Amazon).

Finally, in 2023, Ross joined Untold Studios as an Animation Supervisor / Animation Director, where they continue to contribute their expertise to the animation industry.

Ross Burgess attended Bournemouth University from 2001 to 2002, where they pursued a degree in Computer Animation, earning their MA Hons. Prior to that, from 1997 to 2000, they studied Contemporary Arts at Nottingham Trent University, completing their BA Hons.
