Carolien van Zyl

Carolien van Zyl is a seasoned professional in entomology and agricultural science with extensive experience in insecticide development and management. Since July 2022, Carolien has served as Project Lead for Insecticides & Public Health at UPL, after holding the position of Research, Development & Innovation Lead for Insecticides at WinField United SA from November 2021 to April 2022. Prior to these roles, Carolien was a Product Development Specialist at Villa Crop Protection, where responsibilities included managing the insecticide portfolio and conducting trial analyses. Carolien's earlier experience includes consulting as a nematologist and co-managing a papaya breeding program. Carolien holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Entomology, as well as multiple degrees in related fields from Stellenbosch University, emphasizing a strong academic foundation in agricultural sciences.
