Chief Data Officer at uPlanner

Sebastian Flores Benner has over 10 years of work experience. In 2010, they started as a Project Engineer at the Center for Mathematical Modelling - Universidad de Chile, where they were involved in several projects involving mechanical analysis and client driven software development for underground mining. In 2013, they returned to the same institution as a Project Engineer, where they worked on a new methodology for the computation of seismic moment tensors for microseismicity data. In 2015, they began working as a Mentor for Thinkful, where they provided mentoring sessions on the "Intro to Data Science" course. In 2014, they began working as a Teaching Professor at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, where they taught MAT281 - Applied Maths for Engineering and IWI131 - Introduction to Programming. In 2016, they began working at uPlanner as the Chief Data Officer and Strategic Projects Manager. Additionally, they have provided talks and events for various universities.

Sebastian Flores Benner completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Engineering from Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria between 2000-2004. Sebastian then went on to obtain an Ingénieur diplômé de l'Ecole Polytechnique (MSc.) in Mechanics and Applied Mathematics from École Polytechnique between 2005-2007. Finally, they received a Master of Science in Computational and Mathematical Engineering from Stanford University between 2010-2012. Additionally, Sebastian has obtained several certifications, including TensorFlow in Practice Specialization from Coursera in 2019, Structuring Machine Learning Projects from Coursera in 2017, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization from Coursera in 2017, Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera in 2017, Scalable Machine Learning with Apache Spark from edX in 2015, Introduction to Big Data with Apache Spark from edX in 2015, How to build a StartUp from Udacity in 2015, Street-Fighting Math from edX in 2014, and Software as a Service from edX in 2013.
