Scientist Ii, Cell Culture Media Process Development at UPSIDE Foods

Benjamin Richardson, PhD, currently serves as the Company Representative and Chair for the Industry Consortium at the Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture (TUCCA) since September 2023. Previously, Benjamin has held roles at UPSIDE Foods since June 2021 as Scientist II in Cell Culture Media Process Development and Scientist I in Cell Culture Media Platform Development. As a co-founder of The Boulder Alt. Protein Project from January 2020 to May 2021, Benjamin contributed to advancing alternative protein research. Academic experience includes a graduate researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder from August 2015 to December 2020, along with undergraduate research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Professional development includes participation in the Operations Management Leadership Program at GE Healthcare in roles focused on sourcing and environmental health and safety. Benjamin holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
