Rachel Valenzuela

Rachel Valenzuela is a seasoned professional in the biotechnology and research sectors with a strong focus on discovery and research development. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Discovery at UPSIDE Foods since February 2018, Rachel has progressed through multiple titles from Associate Director to Senior R&D Scientist. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Innovative Genomics Institute, where Rachel led high-throughput genome-wide screenings related to Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and developed CRISPR screening platforms. Academically, Rachel obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Davis and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines, complemented by a diverse teaching and research background in both institutions.
