Sean Cho

Sean Cho has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Sean currently works as a Software Engineer at Upstage since September 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Software Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from February 2021 to September 2022. Before joining AWS, they worked at Amazon starting as an SDE II from May 2017 to July 2020 and then as Senior Software Engineer from July 2020 to February 2021.

Sean also has experience at SAMSUNG SDS, where they worked as a Software Engineer from August 2013 to July 2020. During this time, they developed data ingestion and preparation solutions for a Bigdata platform. Sean also managed and troubleshooted various open-source projects such as Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark, Gobblin, Zeppelin, and Oozie.

Prior to SAMSUNG SDS, Sean was a Co-Founder at Swan Soft from February 2011 to June 2013. There, they established a company to distribute free mobile applications and developed games and LBS mobile applications.

Sean's earlier experience includes working as a Software Engineer at SK C&C from July 2009 to July 2012. Sean played a significant role in designing, developing, and testing a Campaign Management System (CMS) using Java, Spring, Oracle, teradata, and Flex. Sean also customized the solution for several customers, including Solomon Bank, SK Networks, and NongHyup Bank in Korea.

Additionally, Sean worked as a Software Engineer at OK Cashbag from March 2009 to June 2009, where they reengineered a legacy web system and successfully separated customer information for multiple subsystems using Java and SQL (Oracle).

Sean began their career as a Software Engineer at Comsquare, where they designed and developed online-help websites and admin websites. Sean also developed and maintained a product called TrustForm using C++ and performed unit testing and integration testing.

Sean Cho attended Sayfol International School from 2000 to 2002, where they received a high school education. Sean then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science at Purdue University from 2004 to 2013.
