Ashish Kalra

Ashish Kalra has extensive experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Ashish is currently serving as the Head of Translational Research at Upstream Bio since May 2022. Before that, they worked at Scholar Rock for several years, starting as a Scientist in June 2008 and progressing to Associate Director, Director, and ultimately Senior Director. During their time at Scholar Rock, they were responsible for conducting preclinical studies, developing xenograft and syngeneic mouse tumor models, and identifying biomarkers for patient stratification. Ashish also worked at Merrimack, where they held roles such as Clinical Scientist and Principal Scientist. At Merrimack, they played a crucial role in advancing biologics into IND filing and clinical trials, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and designing preclinical toxicology studies. Ashish Kalra completed a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Business Management from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in 2000. Ashish finished their Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry at St. Xavier's College from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, they participated in a course called MassBio, although the duration and specific details are not provided.
