Erika Allen is a seasoned professional with diverse experience in educational and culinary settings. Currently serving as a Social-Emotional Learning Specialist at The Urban Assembly, Inc. since August 2021, Erika previously held roles as an Administrative Assistant at Apostles Church Uptown and as a Line Cook at Major Food Group. Erika has also gained valuable culinary skills as a Sous Chef at CK Living, LLC. and a Line Cook at Major Food Group. Earlier experience includes teaching at YES Prep Public Schools and working as a Research Coordinator at Baylor College of Medicine. Erika holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology and Public Health from Rice University and an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts/Chef Training from The Art Institutes.

The Urban Assembly (UA) believes that a first class public education is a basic human right and that demography should not determine a young person’s destiny. The UA is committed to ensuring the social and economic mobility of students by advancing capacity to enhance student achievement, well-being, and preparation for postsecondary opportunities in all of its 23 schools. In partnership with the NYC Department of Education and hundreds of public, private and nonprofit partners, the UA currently serves over 9,000 students in small, subject-themed public middle and high schools across New York City, including seven Career and Technical (CTE) schools and three all-girls schools.
