Emily Dammeyer has 20 years of experience in strategic communications supporting nonprofits, healthcare institutions, think tanks, and federal campaigns. Emily has developed and led integrated communications campaigns, media relations, digital, social media, marketing, and internal communications, developing programs from the ground up and building teams to execute and evaluate the work. She has experience in brand management, messaging and executive thought leadership through agency and in-house roles.

Emily enjoys working with and learning from diverse colleagues to constantly evolve and enhance approaches for meeting measurable goals. She is a compassionate manager adept at developing individuals and fostering collaboration among teams.

Prior to joining Urban Emu, Emily developed the first content strategy practice at Teal Media and served as director of digital strategy for Palladian Partners. While there, she built and led a team of user experience experts, content strategists and producers, project managers, developers and analysts. She led large-scale digital projects and initiatives on major biomedical and health communications contracts with multiple federal agencies.

Earlier in her career, Emily spent 10 years at an academic medical center supporting corporate initiatives and programs in various roles, including media relations manager before transitioning to the first digital content manager. She began her career in the social marketing practice of Ogilvy Public Relations. Emily has spoken at several industry conferences and her work has been recognized by several organizations, including the PRSA Thoth Award, NIH Director’s Award, and EHealthcare Leadership Awards.
