Dave Machmer

Practice Leader for Geotechnical at Urban Engineers

As Practice Leader, David G. Machmer, PE, leads the firm’s geotechnical practice nationwide.

For over 20 years, Dave has provided services on a wide range of geotechnical and civil engineering projects including design, construction, and forensic phases. His work has involved developing, coordinating, and supervising test boring, test pit, and laboratory programs; analyzing and evaluating subsurface conditions; and estimating footing, pile, and drilled pier capacities and settlements. His experience spans a wide range of construction, including commercial and industrial buildings, university facilities, athletic complexes, parking structures, fuel farm and water storage facilities, roadway and runway pavements, and bridges.

Outside of the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family, his wife and step kids, whether it be outdoors cycling, running, or skiing, or at home making homemade pizza and enjoying a movie. He is also still perfecting his homebrewed beer, which has been a hobby since college.

A Certified Professional Engineer in 5 states, Dave earned his master’s in geotechnical engineering and bachelor’s in civil engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and is past president of the Erie Northwestern PA Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
