Helen Behnke-Hanson

Helen Behnke-Hanson currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Research and Programs at the Urban Institute, a position held since October 2022. Prior to this role, Helen was the Manager of Acceleration Budget and Strategy at the District of Columbia Public Schools from January 2022 to October 2022. Helen's previous experience at the University of Chicago includes roles such as Project Director for the Education Lab and Data Acquisitions Manager for the Crime and Education Labs, spanning from June 2017 to December 2021. Additional experience includes working as a Grants and Contracts Analyst at Chapin Hall, a Grants Administrator at Delta Institute, and a Business Support Specialist at ZystemsGo. Helen holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago and a Master of Science in Applied Data Science from The University of Chicago Graham School.
