Luis Matos is Senior Director of Prevention Services at Urban Resource Institute. Since 1999, Mr. Matos has helped lead the country’s largest school-based teen Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP), expanding its pioneer program to both intermediate and high schools and reaching almost 40,000 students every year. He leads URI’s Crime Victims Assistance program, which facilitates multi-lingual support groups and case management services for survivors of domestic violence, and also oversees URI’s unique Trauma-Informed Abusive Partner Intervention program (APIP). Prior to working at URI, he served as Director of Education and Community Services for 20 years at the Center Against Domestic Violence.
An adjunct professor at Hunter School of Social Work’s graduate program, Mr. Matos teaches courses in clinical practice with individuals, families, and groups. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Spanish Literature from Colgate University and a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Work.
