Chris Cicotta

Chris Cicotta has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in software engineering, radar systems engineering, and management. Chris is currently the Director of Software Engineering at Ursa Space Systems, where they oversee a team of full-stack engineers and is responsible for the development and deployment of microservices using Java/Python frameworks. Chris has also designed and developed a new analytics results database leveraging geospatial standard. Prior to this, they worked as a Software Team Lead and Data Science Team Manager at Ursa Space Systems, where they led teams and supported commercial SAR data processing and exploitation.

Before joining Ursa Space Systems, Chris worked at PredaSAR Corporation as a Senior Radar Systems Engineer, designing and developing radar signal processing software for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data conditioning. Chris has also held positions at SRC, where they served as a Senior Manager and Senior Manger in machine learning and software engineering, respectively. In these roles, they led teams, developed ML/AI programs, and implemented DevOps principles into engineering processes.

Chris began their career as a STELR Engineer at SRC, where they gained experience in various engineering tasks, including design of a mixed-signal printed circuit board. Chris has also worked as a Software Engineer, maintaining and upgrading radar simulation software and implementing signal processing algorithms for SAR image formation.

Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Syracuse University from 2007 to 2012. Finally, Chris completed their education at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2015 to 2019, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
