Sarah Birkel

Sr. Director, Usopf Finance at U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee

Sarah Birkel has extensive work experience in the field of finance. Sarah has held various roles at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, starting from their position as an Assistant Risk Manager from July 2010 to June 2012. Sarah then served as a Manager of Paralympic Finance from July 2012 to January 2014, followed by a role as a Senior Accounting Analyst from January 2014 to March 2016. Sarah was then promoted to become an Associate Director of Finance, where they oversaw the organizational capital budget and accounting from March 2016 to November 2019. Sarah then became the Director of Finance & Analysis, responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting from November 2019 to February 2022. Subsequently, Sarah became the Director of USOPF Finance & Accounting, where they provided strategic consultation, financial reporting, and oversaw financial presentations for the USOPF Board of Directors starting from November 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Director of USOPF Finance, and in addition to their finance role, they serve as a key leader in supporting a fundraising campaign leading up to the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Prior to their time at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Sarah worked as a Contract Underwriter at Merchants Bonding Company from March 2008 to May 2010.

Sarah Birkel has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Drake University. Sarah also has an MBA from Regis University.
