Mark Thomas Smith

Mark Thomas Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in bioprocessing and engineering. Currently serving as the Sr. Director of Innovation and Applications at CARR Biosystems and Managing Partner at BenchMark Bioengineering, LLC, Mark also holds an adjunct professor position at Utah State University. Previously, Mark held multiple roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific, including Sr. Manager in R&D SUT Bioprocessing, where responsibilities included managing teams and driving innovation through research collaborations. Mark has a strong academic background, holding a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Brigham Young University, along with an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology. With a career spanning over a decade, Mark has contributed significantly to advancements in single-use technologies, upstream process development, and bioprocess engineering education.
