Tomotaka Goji, PhD, is a distinguished entrepreneur and legal expert in venture capital, currently serving as Co-founder, Managing Partner, CEO, and Representative Director at UTEC - The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners since its inception in April 2004. Under Tomotaka Goji's leadership, UTEC raised approximately JPY 85 billion (USD 700 million) across five funds and has overseen the successful public listing of 19 portfolio companies, alongside 20 exits through mergers and acquisitions. Prior to founding UTEC, Tomotaka Goji was Deputy Director at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry from April 1996 to April 2004, where key legislative contributions included the authorship of the Limited Partnership Act for Venture Capital Investment and the Small Business Innovation Research Program. Tomotaka Goji holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a PhD in Technology Management for Innovation and Data Science from The University of Tokyo, and a Bachelor of Laws in Political Science from the same institution.
