David Noakes has over 40 years of work experience. In 2019, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Utonomy Ltd. In 2018, they worked as a Design Engineer at BOFA International Ltd, where they used SolidWorks to design and draft sheet metal parts and assemblies, prototype and final release using PDM, and prepare estimated cost sheets and set up parts and assemblies in NetSuite. David also worked as a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer at Stanelco RF Technologies Ltd in 2018. From 2001 to 2018, they worked at Schlumberger Fiber Optics Technology Centre as a Mechanical CAD Designer, where they worked on the mechanical design and sustaining of installation equipment and instrumentation associated with temperature and pressure monitoring of oil wells and other industrial applications. David also provided technical support to the field, production, and suppliers. From 1978 to 2001, they worked at Morganite Special Carbons Limited, first as a Senior Applications Engineer, where they provided design and technical support to sales and customers, and then as a Production Supervisor, where they were responsible for a team of eighteen machinists, press operators, and material process operatives.

David Noakes completed a City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering Technians Part 1 & 2 from Barking College of Technology from 1974 to 1977. David then completed a Part 1 Basic Engineering Craft Studies from the same institution from 1973 to 1974. After that, they attended North East London Polytechnic from 1978 to 1980, where they obtained an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. Finally, they obtained an NVQ Level 4 Certificate in Management from City College Southampton in 1996.
