Maartje Gerretsen

Maartje Gerretsen is an experienced project manager currently working at Universiteit Utrecht on the NWA-route Jeugd, focusing on the needs of children and youth in education and development. Concurrently, Maartje serves as a program supporter for the Doen Wat Werkt initiative at Universiteit van Amsterdam, which aims to bolster support structures for youth care professionals. Additionally, Maartje has a longstanding freelance career as a documentary maker and producer, with notable works including "The Tailor of the Sultan." Past roles include executive producer for Combiwel Buurtwerk, coordinator for the welfare project Voor Elkaar in Zuid, and co-founder of Stichting Syrische Vrijwilligers Nederland, promoting integration for refugees in Dutch society. Maartje holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and has undergone further education at IDFAcademy and Media Academie.
