Dara M. Newton

Associate Vice President For Strategic Enrollment at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

Dara M. Newton has extensive experience in enrollment management and recruitment in the higher education sector. Dara currently holds the role of Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, a position they began in April 2018. Prior to this, Dara held various leadership positions at The University of Texas at Arlington, including Executive Director of Enrollment Management, Executive Director of University Recruitment, and Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management. Dara also served as the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and an Adjunct Professor at the same institution. Before joining The University of Texas at Arlington, Dara worked at Tarleton State University as an Admission Counselor. Dara began their career in admissions at The University of Texas at Arlington, where they held the roles of Assistant Director of Admissions and Associate Director of Admissions, Recruitment, & Orientation.

Dara M. Newton has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Political Science and Government from Texas A&M University, which was obtained from 1990 to 1994. From 1996 to 1998, Dara completed a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Educational Administration at Tarleton State University. Dara also pursued Post Graduate Work in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration at the University of North Texas from 2000 to 2007. Currently, Dara is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at The University of Texas at Arlington, starting in 2014.
