Arturo Matute

Arturo Matute is an accomplished lecturer and social researcher at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala since 2004, specializing in economic anthropology and introductory economics. Matute has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Masters in Development Studies Program, where curricular improvements emphasized multidisciplinary approaches to public policy. With extensive experience in international organizations, Matute served as a Senior Manager at Search for Common Ground, focusing on community violence prevention, and as a Senior Citizen Security Expert at the United States Institute of Peace. Previous roles include Project Director at the Justice Education Society, Analyst at the International Crisis Group, and Director Ejecutivo Regional at CIPREVI. Matute managed significant projects with UNDP related to rule of law and peace-building in Guatemala and contributed to crime prevention initiatives with USAID. Matute's academic background includes a Master's degree from the London School of Economics and ongoing studies in Strategic Studies at Universidad Rafael Landívar.
