William Ellis

Associate Professor at University of the Western Cape

William Ellis is an accomplished academic in the field of anthropology with extensive experience in teaching and research. Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at the University of the Western Cape since June 2018, William Ellis teaches a diverse range of courses focusing on gender, masculinities, voodoo economics, economic anthropology, and is developing a course on the "Anthropology of Africa." Previously, William Ellis held a lecturer position at UWC from 2004 to 2012 and was a visiting academic at UKZN in 2011, where William Ellis focused on their PhD studies and presented seminars on authenticity. Additionally, William Ellis worked as a research fellow at the Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies from September 1999 to July 2003. William Ellis holds both an MA and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of the Western Cape, where academic pursuits began with matriculation from Sarepta Senior Secondary School between 1988 and 1991.
