Darryl “DMC” McDaniels is a rapper, author, and founding member of Run-DMC, the legendary rap group that has sold over 30 million records. Among other achievements Run-DMC was the first rap group to grace the cover of Rolling Stone, the first to appear on MTV, and just the second to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Daryl has also spoken publicly and written extensively about addiction and recovery, and how he came to embrace the value of therapy. His memoir “Ten Ways Not to Commit Suicide” details his battle with depression and sobriety, as well as overcoming suicidal thoughts.
