Catherine Seale

Catherine Seale has been working in the field of data science and GIS for the past eight years. Catherine began their career in 2013 at Groundsure as a Senior GIS Specialist and was promoted to Principal GIS Specialist in the same year. In 2015, they joined the UK Ministry of Defence as a Remote Sensing Systems Developer. In 2016, they joined the Cabinet Office for the Data Science Accelerator Programme. From 2017 to 2021, they were employed at the UK Hydrographic Office, starting as a Data Scientist and eventually becoming the Principal Data Scientist. In 2021, they joined MapAction as a Data Scientist and is currently the Head of Artificial Intelligence at Vaarst, a position they have held since 2022.

Catherine Seale's education history includes a Master of Science in Data Science (Professional) from the University of Exeter from 2017 to 2020, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Sussex from 2008 to 2011, and attendance at HSDC Alton from 2004 to 2006. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Basic Life Support with Trauma (BLST) First Aid, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT), Carbon Literacy, Advanced Querying for SQL Server, CARIS Systems Training, FME Server Authoring, Management Excellence, and is a Member of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
