Tamala Choma

Tamala Choma was appointed to Vice President and General Counsel of Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) in May 2020. Prior to joining VPH, Ms. Choma served as Senior Counsel for L.A. Care Health Plan, Senior Counsel for UC Riverside, Associate Counsel for Genesis Health System, Associate Counsel and Of Counsel for Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, Senior Counsel for Dignity Health, Corporate Counsel and Of Counsel for Sharp HealthCare, and as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in various clinical and educational settings.

As General Counsel, Ms. Choma provides legal advice, counsel, and guidance to senior executives across multiple lines of business on compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, and oversees all aspects of risk management, contract management, and compliance as well as coordinating all legal matters within the organization.

Ms. Choma earned her undergraduate degree in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University, her master’s degree in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University, and her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
