Vanessa Bates Ramirez

Vanessa Bates Ramirez is an accomplished writer and editor with extensive experience in science, technology, and social impact communications. Currently a Writer/Editor at Valo Ventures, Vanessa focuses on biotechnology, energy, climate tech, and social issues. Previously, Vanessa contributed to TIME as a Writer, creating content for a Gates Foundation microsite and other projects. As a Senior Writer/Editor for Singularity University, Vanessa developed original pieces on advancements in various technology sectors. Vanessa's past roles include consulting for the UNDP, managing content at Thermo Fisher Scientific, and leading marketing and strategy at Accretive Health. Vanessa holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Northwestern University and a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with additional studies at Beijing Language and Culture University and Esade.
