Jessica Sadick, Ph.D. has a diverse background in scientific research and laboratory operations. Jessica is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Valo since August 2022, where their specific role and responsibilities are not provided. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientist II at Valo from May 2021 to September 2022.
Before joining Valo, Jessica gained valuable experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Langone Health from August 2018 to May 2021. During their time there, they led and collaborated on various projects related to astrocyte heterogeneity in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and aging, as well as neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, and acute injury models. Notable achievements include generating a significant single nuclei RNA sequencing dataset characterizing astrocytes from human post-mortem Alzheimer's disease patients, conducting multi-single cell RNAseq analysis of mouse disease and injury models, and analyzing scRNAseq data to evaluate a sorting strategy for isolating hiPSC-derived astrocytes.
Jessica's career in scientific research began as a Graduate Student at Brown University from August 2013 to June 2018. During this time, they developed a novel enrichment/protein analysis technique for generating proteomic signatures and applied this method to study neuronal and astrocytic contributions in Alzheimer's disease. Jessica also collaborated on projects related to quantifying gene expression and correlating cytoskeletal markers with whole-cell mechanical properties.
Before pursuing their Ph.D., Jessica worked as a Lab Operations Research Technician at Correlagen Diagnostics from August 2012 to August 2013, and as a Research Technician at Massachusetts General Hospital from July 2011 to August 2012. Further details about their specific roles and responsibilities in these positions are not provided.
Jessica Sadick, Ph.D. received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Botany from Connecticut College in 2011. Jessica then pursued their education further and earned a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Brown University between 2013 and 2018.
