Master Coach at Valor Performance

Renee Appaneal has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of coaching, psychology, and academia. Renee is currently serving as a Master Coach at Valor Performance, Inc. since April 2022. Previously, they worked as the ACT Meteors Team Psychologist at Cricket ACT from January 2020.

Renee also founded Prepare and Perform in August 2005, where they served as a Founder and Psychologist. Furthermore, they worked as an Associate Professor at the Institute for Social Neuroscience from February 2022 to December 2022.

Prior to these roles, Renee gained valuable experience at the Australian Institute of Sport. Renee was an Implementation Specialist from July 2018 to June 2021, and previously held the position of Senior Sport Psychologist from February 2013 to June 2018.

Renee also gained experience as a Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow in the Pain Management/Functional Restoration Program at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital from August 2002 to August 2003. Before that, they worked as an Adjunct/Instructor at Boston University from January 2001 to August 2002.

Furthermore, Renee served as a Postdoctoral Fellow on an NCI funded grant at Boston University School of Medicine from August 2000 to August 2002. All of their work experience is marked by their extensive knowledge and expertise in the fields of psychology, coaching, and academia.

Renee Appaneal's education history includes a variety of degrees and certifications in the field of sport psychology and counseling. Renee earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from The University of Kansas. Renee then pursued their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Sport Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Later, they obtained another Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Counseling from West Virginia University. Furthermore, Renee Appaneal completed their educational journey by earning an Ed.D degree in Sport Psychology from West Virginia University.

In addition to their degrees, Renee Appaneal has obtained several certifications. Renee is a part of the Sport Psychology Registry, which is administered by the USOC - United States Olympic Committee. Renee is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC), a certification administered by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Moreover, they hold the professional title of Endorsed Sport and Exercise Psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Furthermore, Renee Appaneal is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and a Registered Psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
